Recently I went back to doing Flex work and one of the things I immediately missed was ColdFire. So I decided to take a look to see what could be done to get my favorite debugging tool working with CF powered Flex applications. Turns out it wasn't all that hard. First though, check out the video below to get an idea of what I'm talking about. (Sorry, no sound as I recorded this at work.)

I also realized I never announced the previous 1.2.117.117 release on this blog. That release had quite a few improvements and new features which I'll detail below.
A new version of ColdFire is up on RIAForge. This is an extension only update that fixes a bug related to JSON serialization/deserialization of queryparam values.
The problem was reported and fixed by Shane Bradly. He noticed that he was not seeing the SQL for some of his queries in the ColdFire Query tab. His investigation found that passing a numeric value for a text queryparam type such as cf_sql_varchar or cf_sql_char caused the following JavaScript in the ColdFire extension to fail:

I just released a new version of ColdFire over on the RIAForge site. This version is an update to both the Firefox extension and the coldfire.cfm ColdFusion debugging template. Below are the highlights for this release:
Firebug 1.2.0b10 has been released on getfirebug.com. I just gave ColdFire a quick test and everything seems to work. If you find any issues be sure to report them on the RIAForge site.
Speaking of Firebug, some of you may have run into the "double load" issue in Firebug 1.2. This issue is actually due to a limitation in the Mozilla browser, but a fix has been developed, in part by the Firebug team. So if you want to help Firebug, and in turn ColdFire, go to the Mozilla bug database and vote for Bug 430155. (This is one way you can help your favorite open source projects without contributing code!)
Last night I released ColdFire 1.2.51.70 which is compatible with FF 3.0.1. No real updates, just a change to the install manifest to indicate that ColdFire should be compatible with all FF 3.0.* releases.
A new beta of Firebug 1.2 has been released. I've done some quick tests with ColdFire 1.2 and everything seems to work, but if you run into any problems please let me know.
The new beta for Firebug was released over the weekend so I'm happy to say I'm releasing ColdFire 1.2 into the wild. Head over to the RIA Forge site to check it out.
